Hagerman Audio Labs' inverse RIAA filter is a great tool for phono stage break-in. Put a CD on infinite repeat, feed it into the iRIAA, feed the iRIAA's output into your phono stage. Let it run for as long as you want. Complete instructions are in the manual, or visit the Hagerman website at hagerman-audio-labs.myshopify.com. Original cost was $49.

Description and features from the manual:

The inverse RIAA Filter is an accurate reference for testing modern phonostages. It provides the inverse transfer function of the RIAA response and level shifting so that a line level signal is converted into exactly what a phonostage input expects. Separate output levels of –40dB and –60dB (referenced to 1kHz) accommodate moving magnet and moving coil stages, respectively.

Features:

  • Reference accurate to within +/-0.25dB
  • Two output levels (-40dB, -60dB)
  • Accommodates both 50-ohm and 60-ohm generators
  • Two separate channels
