Early 1980-1982 G&L SB-1

I own three of these early SB-1’s with the bi-cut neck and single-coil MFD. With rounds they sound like an angsty p-bass, with flats they are the thumpy sound you hear in your dreams.

This one is very early with the serial number stamped on the bridge. When I bought it, there was a split in the headstock that I had professionally repaired at Indy String Theory - it wasn’t an issue before the repair and is probably stronger than new.

These MFD’s can also get microphonic and I had them shoot some wax on the plate to ensure it stayed true.

The bass has been refinished, with waves and checking. But, it just adds to the punk rock feel. The headstock also has cracking and flaking.

This bass sounds awesome and will certainly turn heads on stage with its sound and uniqueness. Just had it set up with rounds and it’s ready to go!

Leo did these right.

Bass weighs 8.9 lbs and will be well packaged and ship with a vintage G&L case.
