A superb artist-quality viola by master luthier Colin G. Nicholls, London, 1992.
After an eleven year apprenticeship and tenure with W.E. Hill
and Sons, Mr. Nicholls established his one-man workshop in the suburbs
of the British capital.
Now semi-retired, Colin has earned the reputation of being perhaps the finest contemporary violin maker in the United Kingdom.
Our instrument was previously owned by a professional English player, traded some years ago for another of Colin's instruments.
It's come to us in pristine original
condition showing highly figured wood
plus golden-amber oil varnish of high quality.
Back length is 16 3/8 inches .... 414 mm.
We highly recommend this particular instrument, suitable for the most demanding violist.
*** Violists might be interested in viewing a similar Nicholls instrument, now offered by Terranova Violins of San Antonio. This shop appears to have high regard for Colin's instruments and so do we. ***
***** Please note also that we are often on the other side of the Atlantic and hand-to-hand delivery of some instruments is always possible. That means NO shipping costs, no chance of damage and sometimes a lower charge for VAT taxes.
