Brazilian Rosewood Neck
For your consideration is a guitar from a limited run of instruments that were constructed in 2001 with a solid Brazilian Rosewood neck. As PRS dealers we have verified the authenticity of this guitar, and since we have personally sold a fair amount of Brazilian rosewood PRS guitars, we are very impressed with this particular guitar!
During 2012-13 we purchased over a dozen Private Stock PRS guitars with Brazilian rosewood necks/fingerboards and we have never seen a Brazilian neck with a color quite like this!! This guitar has a beautiful chocolate brown neck with very vivid black streaks. And although the Brazilian neck really makes the instrument stand out, the quilted maple top is absolutely incredible as well.....there's not an empty spot on this top and it looks almost holographic when rotated in the sunlight!! Since the guitar is 15 years old and PRS has done so many "limited runs" of guitars, we're not sure what they originally titled the grade of this top, but we're sure that at a minimum this guitar has an "artist" grade top in quilted maple.....borderline Private Stock grade. Nonetheless, PRS currently has only a limited amount of Quilted Maple and they are reserving it primarily for their Private Stock Guitars.
This guitar is 15 years old, and there are some very small blemishes.....mainly a few small depressions on the top behind the bridge (see photos) as well as a few slight marks on the back, nothing gouged and nothing as drastic as "buckle rash". The guitar was played gently, and has very little fretwear.....all in all you'd be hard pressed to find a 15 year old instrument as clean as this one!
One final aspect worth mentioning about this guitar, we believe it to be a "pre-lawsuit" guitar since Gibson took legal action against PRS Guitars when they unveiled their "Singlecut" model in the early 2000's.
