Behold, your ultimate backup/practice/small gig amp. Great clean platform to build up with pedals--takes pedals well, by the way. Yes, the amp is solid state, but it's unashamed of this. Lab Series amps were the brain-children of Bob Moog and Gibson, and they've been used professionally by such esteemed tone monsters as B.B. King. Vaughn from Warehouse Speakers has called them "the ultimate sleeper amp" (see ).

This particular model is the L3, the 1x12" 60w combo. While it's not a super loud amp, I've played a few small club gigs with it, and it held it's own with a drummer. I'd compare is volume-wise to my 15w 2x6v6 Fender-style tube amp--so, great for playing at medium volume.

The L3 definitely has a Fendery character to it--think Deluxe Reverb but with more headroom. Even though there are no tubes, it is definitely warmer and less sterile-sounding than, say, the new reissue amps (I'm looking at you, Princeton Reverb).

Perhaps the best thing about the L3 is how dang light it is! Seriously, carrying this across a parking lot into your gig is so easy--weighs about the same as a Les Paul in its case. And it's got a nice, long 3-prong power cable, so you don't have to mess with extensions. And the price is right, so what are you waiting for?

This amp is in all original condition--no mods, no replacements. There is a little cosmetic wear, as you can see from the first picture. While stored in a lofted area, some wall paint rubbed off on the bottom front of the cabinet and a little on the grill cloth. I'm pretty sure it would come off with a little nail polish remover, but I don't mind the look as-is. I'll leave it to you to decide.

Please ask any and all questions you may have--and watch some youtube videos to hear how great these sleeper amps sound!
