Teisco, Apollo, Hofner Violin Franken-Beatle Bass with Scroll Headstock

Up for sale we have the 1960's Franken-Beatle Bass! This thing has all of the mojo you could ever need. I pieced this bass together from all of the coolest parts from various violin style basses. I used the scroll neck from an Apollo bass and the body is from a Teisco, which is why the finish on the neck doesn't match the body. The bridge is off of some random archtop bass, but I contoured it to fit the top of this bass perfectly. I modified an old guitar tremolo to make the tailpiece. The pickups are reproduction Hofner "staple" pickups. It is wired with a master volume, a three way switch, and tone knob for each pickup. The bass has it's fair share of chips and scratches in the finish ( it even looks like a dog might have gotten hold of the neck at some point), but they don't affect the playability at all and it just adds to the story of this instrument. As for the sound, when I first played the bass acoustically, before I installed the electronics, I thought that it sounded kinda lo-fi and trebley, however once I installed the pickups I was shocked at how full and rich the sound was. I think it would be cool to mic the body and record it going through an amp to get that full rich sound with just a little bit of that lo-fi sound to add some character. The bass is currently strung with labella tapewound strings which give it a warm upright kind of tone. Please feel free to ask any questions.
