Here we have a made in Korea epiphone les paul standard gold top. It’s either a 1996 or a 2006 but it was made in the Samick Korean factory- which produced some of the best Asian guitars to this day. This guitar has obviously spent a lot of time in a case for most of its life as the frets have hardly any wear at all and the top is Nearly mint. With only minor belt buckle rash on the back. The neck is straight and the action is setup up to 1.25mm at the 12th fret high E and 1.5mm at the 12th fret low e. Guitar has been professionally setup, frets polished, intonation set- sorry about string tails. I let my intern restring it! I may do it over!

This guitar has a monster upgrade in that the crappy old epiphone pickups have been replaced with an amazing sounding Lambertone humbucker set.

The neck is a Lambertone Crema and the bridge is a Lambertone Grinder. They have the raw unplated covers for that awesome vintage look. If you don’t know about these pickups- look them up because they are fast becoming the most popular set of boutique American made humbuckers on the market. The crema is their vintage output super clear but warm- the grinder has a bit more output and midrange which really helps the bridge come through with a nice warmth and fatness (it is still far from a high output pickup). The crema in the neck and grinder in the bridge makes the perfect combo set for a les paul. These are AMAZING sounding pickups- they make a night and day difference on this guitar. They cost over $300 to purchase (not including installation costs).  So this guitar is an absolute steal.

the modern day epiphones have better pickups as the probuckers are miles ahead of the old mik pickups- but that’s about the only improvement) the Korean guitars use better wood and were just made more solid. The probuckers are miles ahead of old epiphone pickups but the lambertones are miles ahead of probuckers. For real- check out the video I posted.

The plastics have been changed from cream to black. The pickguard was widened out a bit and not done very well. There is a picture of it but you don’t really notice it unless you know what to look for. Even then it doesn’t look bad. Either way it could be replaced if it bothers you for $12. I didn’t replace it because I figured someone out there may want the cream plastics instead.

Get yourself a collectible piece of epiphone history. The samick made les Paul’s are what made this company what it is today.

If you’d like the pickups separate from the guitar or the guitar and not the pickups just message me or call our shop. We can arrange that!
