Ibanez RG7420 Black Pearl MIJ 2000 + Dimarzio Evolution. Fujigen.

This is a first-year run RG7420 made in Japan in 2000, with a "black pearl" (dark green sparkle) finish in good player's condition. If you know anything about RG's made in Japan from this era, you know that they are of very high build quality and the necks are very fast with immaculate fretwork. This neck is thinner than most 6 strings I have. 

It's in pretty good shape for a 19 year old guitar, I tried to capture all the wear/nicks/dings in the pictures. Frets have tons of life in them. The Takeuchi-made Lo-TRS7 tremolo shows no signs of pitting and the stud inserts are not ovaled like they are on a lot of older basswood RG's (can't say the same about my old 1990 UV7BK!). Tuning stability is VERY good, I am a heavy trem user and I can confidently say this trem gets more hate on the internet than it deserves, it's heavy and it returns to pitch as well as any OFR and Schaller I have. So don't bother upgrading or blocking it, use it! The screw in trem bar is a nice touch, no annoying rattle unlike collar-type trem bars, so flutters are easy.

The knobs are not original, schaller-style straplocks have been installed but I will also include gold Dunlop straplocks that match the knobs. The bridge pickup has been replaced with a Dimarzio Evo 7, very tight sounding and the harmonics really fly out of it. It is fully set up with D'Addario EXL110-7 strings, fully intonated with the relief is set appropriately in A# tuning. Crazy fast playability with no fret buzz, ready to play Morbid Angel riffs right out of the box.

I impulse-bought this guitar locally as it was cheap and I missed playing "Gateways to Annihilation" songs, but I only use 6 strings in my own musical projects.
