Italy has never had much of a presence in the making of musical instruments outside of course of their stunning, many centuries presence for their string instruments like Stradivarius violins. However, one Italian company, the Orsi company of Milan, has had an unbroken history of making wind instruments since 1836. I suppose their claim to fame here in the states is the dubious honor of having supplied the wind instruments for Mussolini's fascist army prior to and during WWII. The Orsi company continues to make wind instruments and has an active website explaining their long history and listing the instruments they currently make.
As close as I can determine this trumpet, #1323, was made after WWII, probably during the 1950s. It was disassembled, hydrostatically cleaned and then the old lacquer was removed. It was re-assembled with all new felts, springs and water keypads. The valves were properly adjusted and then the horn was given a custom brushed-brass finish and new satin lacquer. As you can see from the photos it came out looking stunningly beautiful. Photo 6 shows its art deco stencil and from the last photo you can see that all the slides are free and that the valve plating looks nearly new. A healthy pop as each slide is pulled attests to its good valve seating. This horn now looks and plays beautifully and would make a very unique centerpiece to enhance any horn collection.
Comes with the Duo'er gig bag shown in the photos and a mouthpiece.
Key: Bb
Bore: .459"
Bell: 4 9/16"
Non-reverse lead tube
