The history of these cool, painted headstock models models is really interesting. From January of 1995 - June of 1996 Fender made a very limited production run of these guitars in a few select custom colors. They were available in Sea Foam Green, Candy Apple Red, Lake Placid Blue, Ocean Turquoise, Olympic White and arguably the most rare... Burgundy Mist. Fender would run two colors for a 6 month period and then swap to another pair which made availability on each color more limited. More information on the production dates below with information we sourced directly from Fender. We also have the original factory build sheet on this guitar that was provided to us by Fender and a copy will be included with the guitar.
This guitar was obviously owned by someone who knew it's significance. It has been well cared for and preserved but the owner obviously played the guitar. There are some light pick scratches on the pickguard and a few light scratches near the input jack. The pickup covers and control knobs show typical light discoloration with an "aged" hue that gives them a really authentic character and patina.
From a playability standpoint, the guitar is awesome. Low, fast action, virtually no fret wear and an arrow straight neck that has the traditional mid-90s "light C shape". It feels fantastic. The pickups sound classic with that bell like, crystalline tone you expect from an American Strat. The guitar still has all the original electronics including the original TBX tone control. Neck and body stamps show that this guitar was manufactured in March of 1995. The guitar also has all the original factory quality control stickers on the inside of the control and trem cavities.
