This is the one
– a 1987 Hohner Professional “The Prinz” with the Fender-style headstock! These are hard to find and are highly
sought-after by Prince collectors as well as anybody searching out a
particularly well-made and stylish telecaster-style guitar.
This is NOT the
later “TE” model. It is a very early
example from the original Hohner run (serial #87123xx).
The guitar is
100% original/stock, with the possible exception of the volume/tone knobs. The top and back is highly-flamed maple and
the center strip is either mahogany or walnut – I’ve seen it described both
ways. The neck is Canadian hard rock
maple.
The condition
is excellent. There is the occasional
very mild ding or impression here and there from normal play wear and there are
obvious scratches on the pickguard that defy photography, but they are hard to
see except in the right light and do little to mar the overall visual impact of
the instrument (which is stunning!). Please
also note that some areas around the edge of the guitar which might look like
chips and such are, in fact, the speckled variations in the very handsome
tortoise binding.
The back of the
neck is blemish-free and there is virtually no fret wear. The pickups sound great! All electronics function as intended, as does
the truss rod and the micro-tilt adjustment.
The guitar comes with a non-original tweed hard case
in excellent condition.
