Rick Turner Renaissance RB4 Studio Special Fretless Bass 2016 Satin Mahogany

Rick Turner was the co-founder of Alembic guitars and basses—and the same builder who created Lindsey Buckingham’s famous Model One electric guitar. Now he has developed a remarkably lightweight thinline bass, perfect for stage and studio.

The Renaissance Fretless Studio Special produces a broad range of tones, from upright to cutting electric. The thinline, cutaway body is built like a fine acoustic guitar, with satin-finish mahogany back and sides, and with an added mahogany center block to cut feedback. It’s remarkably resonant and incredibly light, under 7 lbs. An extended strap-button arm keeps the bass balanced, and prevents “head dive.”

Renaissance basses feature a maple neck with rosewood fingerboard; detented volume and tone knobs; burled walnut headstock overlay; and sealed tuners. A Timberline piezo bridge pickup feeds full-spectrum signals to an 18-volt D-TAR pre-amp. String-thru construction helps increase sustain.

The RB4 comes with Thomas-Infeld Acousticore strings, for a blend of electric-acoustic tone and easy playability. A heavily padded Access Stage 3 gig bag is included.
