Are you looking for a very smooth singing tone with less grit to go with the classic 6L6GC sound? This is our Gold Pin Option Retube Kit for the 6505 Plus with 6L6GC's. The preamp section uses six Gold Pin ECC83S's with being a current balanced Gold Pin ECC83S for the phase inverter in V6.
The power tubes are a premium matched quad of the JJ Electronic 6L6GC's. The JJ 6L6GC's have big lows, smooth mids and crystalline highs. What sets them apart is their low end clarity, mid-range detail and very clear highs without being overbearing or harsh.
A note about "V" numbers. Some wise guy at Peavey decided to randomly label the preamp tubes, so the V numbers that are listed on the schematic starting from the first position which is closest to the input jack starts with V6, then V1, V2, V5, V3 and V4. The small minority of players who venture into reading the schematics have discovered this and ask why? Good question... They also ask why we refer to the tubes as V1 thru V6 starting with the preamp tube closest to the input jack.
The Answer? It's MUCH easier and less time consuming to explain this to a very small number of players than to explain to hundreds if not thousands of players that you count 6, 1, 2, 5, 3 and 4... So we refer to the V numbers as V1 thru V6 which is closest to the power tubes!
Unlike other tube venders who charge for low noise tubes, all our tubes meet rigorous tests for low noise, microphonics and nine additional tests.
If you want all the power and fidelity to get from your amp to your speakers then check out our custom made 10 Gauge speaker cables in our Reverb storefront. These cables are the largest cables made and leave no frequency unheard!
The video below shows both our preamp tube testing and power tube matching procedures here at Eurotubes which are second to none. We may not be the cheapest, but we are arguably the best.
