I have owned this bass since the early 1980's. The last time it was played out was a two hour jam session in 2004. It has been stored in it's hard case and in a climate controlled environment. I am in the process of down-sizing so I have decided to put it up for sale.
I paid a local luthier to go over it and provide a realistic appraisal.
He rated it at 8 out of 10, reserving anything higher to an instrument in as-new and un-played condition. He confirmed that all pick ups, controls and truss rod were fully functional. There is a finish problem on the back of the neck which he said was due to expansion/contraction over the years and normal for a multi-part neck. Prospective buyers may want to check this out as the bass will be sold as described.
It does have finish checking and blemishes which is normal for a 51 year old instrument. The case shows wear but is functional.
