John C. Haynes Bay State Brazilian Rosewood Guitar

Up for sale is an exquisite John C. Haynes Company Bay State 12-fret Brazilian/Spruce guitar in very good overall condition, a few small nicks and dings along with some finish checking, a small chip in the headstock, action is on the high side so a neck reset will be needed for normal play, tuners in good working condition. Guitar is very resonant and with a big, rich tone. Specs: Brazilian rosewood back and sides, BRW veneer headstock, spruce top, ebony fretboard and frets look brand new, brass reverse gear tuners with bone buttons and floral engraving on the planks, ladder bracing, V-shape neck, newer pyramid bridge and bridge pins, perfect fitting TKL hard shell case, a 9v pickup has been installed with a bottom strap button plug-in. Measurements: Length 37 3/4” Upper bout 9” Lower bout 13” Depth 4 1/8” Width at the nut 1 7/8" Charles Robinson of the Bay State Guitar Research Project informed me that while this guitar does not appear in any of his Bay State catalogs, he is certain that it is an authentic Bay State based on the logo stamped on the back of the headstock and the original tuners so typical of these Haynes made instruments. He also mentioned that this guitar is only the second Bay State he has seen that didn't have a straight top headstock and may mean it was made in the early 1890's, shortly after the new branding 'Bay State' stamp was introduced. Also, this guitar is only the second stamped Bay State guitar out of more than 100 that he has registered without a serial or style number on top of the headstock. He said this might mean it was a custom made instrument.
