Hi,
I have way too many basses. (As though there is such a thing. LOL) I have to thin out the herd. This baby is extremely rare and all factory original. I purchased this beautiful beast new back in 1986. I have been the only owner and I have taken excellent care of her for the past three decades. In 1988 Steinberger introduced the “Trans-trim” for their basses and I sent her in to have them install it at the factory. This allows you to detune the bass from E,A,D,G down to B,E,A,D with the click of the detune bar. It was such a cool invention because if you need a low B bass you can have it with the click of a bar. You can also let it free wheel and use it as a whammy bar for bending notes and simi synth sounds. If you know Steinbergers you know they are dead on in tune and indestructible. If I’m not mistaken, this was the first year they came out with white but I may be mistaken.
The double ball string system is amazing and out of all of my basses it is the most reliable and most in tune. Because I have so many bases, even though I have had her for three decades plus. She has very little wear and tear. A couple of scratches but nothing major. She is rare and in perfect playing condition. I have to let her go to a good home. The Bass is so full range that I use it both in studio and live. I have traveled around the world with her several times and never ever has she given me one lick of trouble. The EMG pick ups are as crisp and deep as the day I got her and she sounds like an angel or devil which ever you like. Always reliable and spot on. Hallar back at me and make her your dream bass.
The XL-2 bass was initially released in 1984 and constructed with a one-piece solid molded resin body and neck, with a 24-fret phenolic fretboard and standard Steinberger bridge. It used two EMG humbuckers and came standard in a black finish.
There are some small cosmetic blemishes, and surface scratches. This bass just received a fresh cleaning and intonation and is good to go. Purchase of this bass includes a Steinberger synapse gig bag. One of the photos above shows that the bag does have a tear.
