Elka Capri 300 Combi Organ (aka Elka Panther)

Fantastic rare 60's Combo Organ. 

This one is in very good cosmetic condition and functional, the only issue I can find is the vibrato seems ineffective, however this may need an additional footswitch to function. there is also one key on the higher register which seems to not give a 'full' sound. I'm sure this is simply a case of the contact/bus bar on this one key needing a clean. the rest of the organ is 100% functional and sounds killer!

note the power cable as pictured has been replaced by an amateur, whilst perfectly safe and functional it is not secure, I will be installing a correct 'kettle' style connector and cable for the new owner.

the last one of these I saw for sale was 2 years ago here on reverb and went for nearly $1200. (see here; https://reverb.com/au/item/3171851-elka-panther-300-combo-organ-aka-elka-capri) that one had been fully serviced so I'm not expecting that much but reasonably close would be nice. I would imagine this is much rarer on the australian market than in the US.

comes with it's original cases (there's a seperate case for the legs), both cases have wear and tear but present well, and the clear plastic music stand. there are some small bits of hardware missing, some thumbscrews for the legs (one has been replaced with the same size bolt), and the stabilising cross bar for the legs is missing too. I have made a new one from a broom handle and some wood screws, works perfectly.

·        Treble Voice Tabs: Bourdon 16', Contra Oboe 16', Strings 16', Open Diapason 16', Flute 8', Strings 8', Clarinet 8', Oboe 8', Flute 4', Strings 4', Salicet 4', Mixture I, Mixture II

The output is "stereo", requiring a TRS plug split to two mono 1/4" plugs to separate the treble and bass outputs.

The level of the 16', 8', 4' and Mixture voices can be infinitely varied via the knobs - very nice idea. The Mixture tabs are a combination of 2-2/3', 2' and 1-3/5' voices, Mixture I is described as "Harsh", and Mixture II as "Mellow". The Tone Decay tab adds an attack Percussion effect to the Mixture tabs only. The Bass Extension tab extends the bass section into the Gray keys, providing 24 bass keys.

The Elka Capri is unusually richly featured for a single-manual organ. It has a bold yet rich sound, a powerful vibrato and a wide variety of tone filters. Features include multiple vibrato options, 3 footages (octaves) per note with level mixer and selectable tone filters for each footage, “Mixture” option for unique harmonics / ring modulator like sound, fully polyphonic bass section with optional extension for two octaves of bass (grey keys), and an interesting optically controlled feature called tone decay (subtle envelope applied to the mixture footages).
