Martin Handcraft Committee professional alto saxophone in extremely rare and collectible original silver-plate with gorgeous gold-washed inner bell and the stunning art-deco city skyline search lights edition.
This is arguably one of the best looking saxophones ever made.
Not familiar with Martin saxophones?
- Martin was one of the "big four" - top American professional saxophone manufacturers in the early to mid-1900s (Buescher, Conn, King, and Martin).
- Among those who know - vintage Martin saxophones have been referred to in various ways as "giant killers" because they are, and play that well - yet most really don't seem to know it.
- Louis FouchƩ the saxophonist on the Late Show Band performs with at least two vintage Martin Committee saxophones.
- Art Pepper - one of the very best alto sax players of all time played a Martin Committee... enough said.
Serial number 118xxx ~1937.
Height adjustable/ergonomic thumb rest(s).
All factory-original silver plating in amazing condition. Minor cosmetic wear/dings common for this vintage. Impeccable condition for its 85+ years of age, although this beautiful saxophone can look even more amazing than it already does with a bright silver polishing š
Original Martin key pearls and rollers intact.
Matching serial numbers on both the body and the neck.
This is one of the most unknown, underrated, beautiful, and best saxophones without a doubt.
Thankfully the bell keys are on the back side of the saxophone - allowing for a significantly larger, enhanced engraving - even extending down into the bow area, and there is a lot going on in this prominent & unique work of art engraving (search lights beaming through the city skyline, gorgeous sky-scraper buildings, an airplane flying through the city sky, an eagle, banners, stars, etc.) I just love it all... you certainly don't see art-deco stuff like this anymore.
Complete $$$ overhaul... brand new leather pads with domed metal resonators, fresh cork, felt, etc.
Silver-plated Martin saxophones are valued significantly higher, are heavier, and are known to resonate & sound superior.
This saxophone plays very well, in-tune, with the FAT, smoky, free-blowing rich Martin sound! š¶š· (...Selmer Mark what?)
Made in USA in the 1930s
This legendary sax can be the icon of your saxophone collection in every way.
Offers considered, however this one is difficult to part with. First come, first served... don't miss out on this gorgeous super-rare, and collectible professional saxophone.
Vintage saxophones this rare, special, and unique don't come along every day...
Now is the perfect time to play a killer sax š¶š·
This is the final price drop for this particular sale, before the price goes back up... good luck to you!
