PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: This listing is for a 1962 Ampex 601 Portable Analog Single Channel Mono Reel to Reel Tube Tape Recorder. We received this item from the band Queens of the Stone Age as it comes out of their studio here in Burbank.

PHYSICAL CONDITION: Fair - The tape machine does not function but all its parts and components are in quite good condition. The metal hardware on the case shows some oxidation and pitting, though all-in-all the case remains strong and sturdy. Internally many things are not connected and are just looses inside the unit. The VU meter needle is broken and the VU meter unit's plastic mounts have been broken so its currently being held to the chassis with tape, as to not damage anything by being free to move around against other components. There are a number of loose parts inside the chassis. Overall the component parts themselves are in very good shape. Overall condition is fair.

WORKING CONDITION: Non-Functioning - All parts are included but the machine does not work in its current state. There are loose parts moving around the chassis internally. The VU meter needle is broken. But all other parts look to be in pretty good shape and this will certainly serve you well as a project to fix up or to be used for spare parts. Overall working condition is non-functioning.
