Here is a very rare, vintage, U.S.A. made, Guild electric-acoustic guitar!
This is a 1980-1981 Guild D-40CE Sunburst... possibly the only one like it in the world. Not only is it rare to find a vintage Guild cutaway in Sunburst, but this one with the original factory electronics is super rare.
The guitar is a fantastic player with tons of mojo, perfect for gigging! This guitar has definitely been played and for good reason... that rich, well-balanced, and warm Guild tone!
The guitar sounds great plugged in as well. It has separate volume, bass and tone knobs, and the EQ is very responsive for a wide variety of tones.
The neck angle is great, and the action is set at a comfortable medium-low and could be lowered more if desired.
The truss rod is functioning correctly, and although there is mild to medium fret wear, there is no string buzzing or dead spots.
There is lacquer checking, wear spots to the back of the neck, some dents and dings but no major repairs. It appears that the bridge was reglued at some point, leaving a visible repair mark in the finish just above it.
The guitar suffered from "shrinking pickguard syndrome" (Google it!) which is a very common problem. The original pickguard has been replaced with a new one, and two tiny cracks from the shrinking pickguard have been repaired. The lip of the soundhole was pulled up slightly as it shrunk, which affects nothing.
We acquired the guitar from the original owner who stated that he bought it in 1980.
It comes with its original Guild hard-shell case, in roadworn condition but fully functional.
All in all, a fantastic vintage, American guitar at an unbelievable price!
Happy Pickin'!
