De string the guitar, remove the existing tuners and replace. These are held in place by the shank that goes through the headstock, the washer and bolt hold these securely in place. In addition, you attach a tiny screw on the back of the head stock, which is included as well .. When you are done, pat yourself on the back and crack a beer or whatever your favorite relaxant might be
