This is an awesome guitar. Custom built to match the specs of Alex's 80's Sportscaster Strat! A lot less expensive than the excellent "Hentor Sportscaster" replicas made by Freddy Gabrsek.
A quality build and a much better price than to have one made for you.
The body is from a 2014 Fender Japan ST62-FR. Neck is also MIJ, gorgeous, plays super fast with huge tone. I hand-assembled this build and an expert luthier did the setup and intonation. Alex Lifeson custom case.
Alex used Fender Strats in the early 80's equipped with a Floyd Rose trem and
Bill Lawrence pickups. That’s what this has (the same Bill Lawrence as in the Sportscaster— not the cheap version and not easy to find!).
Guitar body is in mint condition with no marks, dings, or scratches. It has never been gigged and was carefully stored in a smoke free studio. Installed is a REAL Bill Lawrence/Wilde Bill L500-L humbucker like the "Hentor". This is a real Bill Lawrence (not the cheaper USA) and it gives the Fender a much bigger sound which is why Lifeson used them.
The neck is a Fender HRR maple neck w/ rosewood board. Made in Japan and designed for a Floyd Rose trem system. Not sure of the year.
IMO, this is the best neck Fender ever made. Slim and wide, and if you love a fast neck there is none better.
Digital calipers measure this neck: 0.744 @ 1st fret and 0.82 @ 12th fret.
According to published Fender specs, the neck width is 1.6875". This
neck also has a wider heel that standard spec: 2 1/4" but was sanded down (very slightly) to fit the body. Comes with everything you see attached: Floyd Rose nut, Kluson-style tuners, String retainer bar, and Trem Tool. The neck is straight with no functional issues. NO cracks around the Floyd bolts on the back of the neck. The truss rod is fully functioning. Fret wear is
evident (see photos), but there is plenty of life left on the frets. I'd
rate the frets as 85% to 90%.
Guitar comes with Alex Lifeson custom case. It was built for a Jaguar (for some reason) and I modded it for the Strat. It's not a perfect mod (you can see some hot glue seams) but it looks and functions great. It's a hard shell case with his signature -- I've never seen another!
It also comes with a Fender leather guitar strap.
I WILL BE ADDING MORE PICTURES SOON
This guitar is SMOOTH to play and the sound is BIG and it looks EXACTLY like a Hentor Sportscaster straight out of "The Big Money," "Manhattan Project," etc.
Alex Lifeson signature waterslide decal on the back of headstock.
