Here’s an original Framus Renegade Pro built in Germany in 1996. Functionally, it's like a strat with an extra pickup, that looks sort-of like a tele.

These are high-end, superbly-built instruments with excellent hardware and their own look. Ugly? Distinctive? All I know is that they feel crazy good, and sound better than most F-style guitar. Maybe it's the massive neck-body joint (hidden under the pickguard), or the combination of high-quality components and great wood. They are also uncommon, probably because they were expensive and very few were sold in North America. They come up infrequently in Europe, probably because most owners keep them. They are fabulous instruments.

These guitars originally came with very nice gig bags, but I was lucky enough to find a custom G&G hardshell case (probably for a Rick 325) that fits the guitar perfectly. Comes with this case and trem arm.

The ergonomic maple neck is asymmetrically shaped, with an oil finish, and is remarkably comfortable. The wenge board feels great as well. This guitar has an oil finish in black (various transparent colours were offered as well, including red, orange, amber, brown, dark blue, teal, green and magenta). It’s in great condition, with very minor fret wear on the first three frets. The matte-oil-finish has become shinier where it has been rubbed, and there are a few minor nicks and scratches on the body, to be expected with an oil finish.

A little background:
Framus was one of the original post-war West German guitar makers who made a full range of guitars and basses. They went bankrupt in 1975. After establishing Warwick basses, Hans-Peter Wilfer revived the brand that his father Fred had built, for guitars and amps. One of the first new Framus guitars was the Renegade Pro, introduced in 1995. It combines a tele-inspired body shape with a strat pickup configuration / trem bridge, with an independent mini-humbucker near the bridge, enabled by a pull pot.

Framus moved on fairly quickly to much fancier guitars and the Renegade Pro evolved into the Diablo Pro - essentially the same thing but with a more strat-shaped body.
