Vintage Garrard Lab 80 Turntable/Working Condition

This item is in very good working condition. It has been tested thoroughly, and it is fully functional on the manual setting. The motor is good, and the idler wheel has been reconditioned. All moving mechanisms have been relubed. We have modified the headshell, and directly connected the cartridge wires because the plastic housing cracked due to age. This is common for this type of headshell. This should work on full automatic function provided you have a tall spindle, but we were unable to test the automatic feature because we did not have the tall spindle. We acquired this item without a tall spindle, or a short spindle. We were able to retrofit a short spindle. With a short spindle for single play, and set to manual, it will auto return at the end of the record, and shut itself off. We added wood brackets inside the wood base for additional structural support because this item is very heavy. Because the platter is so heavy we will have to remove it for shipment. It is not difficult to put back on. It has a good sounding Shure cartridge and needle. There is no dust cover. Cosmetically it has some minor scratches, marks, and dings. There is a black mark on the right side of the wood base. There is also some rust on the spindle clip, and the back of the tonearm due to age. This turntable sounds really good because it's heavy and stable.

We do not replace parts unless necessary to preserve the authenticity of our vintage items. Any necessary changes to our items will be mentioned in the description. Cosmetic flaws do not always show up well in pictures. For this reason they are described in detail in the description. Please keep in mind that the items we sell are vintage. Flaws in varying degrees are to be expected, and it is very difficult to catalog every minor flaw.

We double box all of our items, and use sufficient amounts of packing materials. We do our best to make sure that your item arrives safely. This is reflected in our shipping prices. Please keep the boxes and all packing materials until you are positive there is no shipping damage.
