Meet the Wahcko+ from JAM Pedals—a vintage-style wah built like a tank with six sweep voicings via a rotary switch. With carbon comp resistors and a RED Fasel inductor like late-’60s Cry Babys, it nails classic tone while adding modern flexibility. Every JAM pedal is handmade in Athens, Greece, and has earned fans at the highest levels.

JAM is known for NOS components and a serious love of analog circuits, so it makes sense the Wahcko takes its cues from the late-’60s wah boom—especially the legendary Cry Baby. But instead of borrowing from just any version, JAM chased the real prize: the 1969 Italian Cry Baby made by Jen Elettronica, when RED Fasel inductors entered the picture. Those pedals became instant classics for their deep swell and smooth top end. The Wahcko starts there, with vintage tone and a super-smooth pot, then pushes further with its six-position EQ switch.

The voice selector works a lot like a rotating Q control, shifting the sweep and overall EQ of the pedal. In testing, it felt like a trip through wah history, moving from the bright, percussive funk tones of the early ’70s to cocked-rock snarl and on to the wider, spacier sound of modern jam tones.

This version is the Wahcko+, which means it has JAM’s latest upgraded circuit. JAM is a full-on custom shop, offering custom artwork, multi-pedal builds, and a few optional upgrades on select units. The Wahcko+ can also be ordered with a “Seagull” switch—a nod to Pink Floyd’s “Echoes”—or even point-to-point wiring for a small upcharge. Overall, it’s every bit as fun as it looks and easy to love if you’re into great wah pedals.
