Alberto Macias Bajo Quinto
Hand-made in San Antonio, Texas, it takes 6-8 months to make a Macias bajo. Macias bajos are known the world over for being the "Stradivarius"or the "Rolls Royce" of bajos. Alberto, who sadly passed away in 2009, learned the craft from his father Martin. Albert's son George carries on the tradition and is now teaching his son Chris the art of bajo making.
This Alberto Macias Bajo Quinto is in excellent condition.
The bridge is on very solidly and there is just a hint of wear starting on the first few frets. There was a sound hole pickup installed and it looks original to the instrument. It was most likely a Dimarzio because that is the pick up used by Albert. This is the way we acquired it. We have an older Dimarzio that is probably from the same era as this Bajo and it will fit this guitar. We can include it, if you want and can have it installed for you as well.
The finish is all original and if you are not familiar with Macias instruments, they look very hand made indeed. It does not have a super shiny plastic Chinese "factory" finish like most of the factory turned out Bajos made today.
The strap buttons are not original.
Comes with a used case.
There are a few dings and scratches, but overall, it's in excellent condition.
Please see all the photos for a more complete visual description.
Let us know if you want to see any other areas on the bajo and we'll get you some more photos.
Please feel free to ask any questions before bidding.
Thanks for looking!
