2018 Brothers D-42 Koa

We just finished building this boutique one-of-a-kind absolutely spectacular 42 style dreadnought Koa build. This beauty has an Adirondack red spruce top, absolutely stunning solid Koa body, solid mahogany neck with 1 11/16” width at nut and a two-way truss rod, hand-carved 30’s style scalloped bracing, all hide glue construction, and a super thin 100% nitrocellulose full gloss finish. We build in the style of the 1930’s Martin guitars – both my business partner and I worked at Martin Guitar for many years. If Martin guitar was building Koa 42 style dreadnoughts in the 1930’s, this is what you would get with build quality, aesthetics, and sonic quality. And, we built an extremely comfortable playability into this one-of-a-kind boutique build. One strum of this beauty and you will catch an unusual depth of lows that is not common among Koa guitars – as well as incredibly lush and rich mid overtones and high chimes. We work every nuance and every detail to capture the build quality and sonic quality of the 1930’s Golden Age guitars. This is one of the most balanced guitars across the frequency spectrum that I have ever had in my hands. And, when pushed, it is extremely loud and bold. When played soft and delicate, it delivers a response and subtle overtones that are hard to find on any mahogany or rosewood dreadnought guitars. We rarely build guitars that are put on the market and, this is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to own a Brothers build. This beauty comes with a hardshell case.
