1922 Gibson A-2 Mandolin - All Original

Up for sale is an all-original 1922 Gibson A-2 oval-hole mandolin from the desirable Lloyd Loar era at Kalamazoo. It has that warm, woody, resonant tone you only get from 100-year-old carved spruce and maple.

Condition & Notes:

  • Originality: 100% original throughout. Original tuners, tailpiece, cover, bridge, pickguard, and clamp are all present and intact.
  • Finish & Finish Wear: The original finish shows its age with authentic lacquer checking, player wear on the top,and light back wear/scuffs. It’s got a great natural vintage patina without any overspray or touch-ups.
  • Structure: Soundboard, back, and seams are solid. No cracks or neck joint issues.
  • Playability: Frets show light wear but it plays smoothly up and down the neck with low action.

Will be packed very carefully with strings slacked prior to shipment. Let me know if you have any questions or want photos of specific spots!
