One step up Gibson Les Paul. This is a sixties Les Paul @ 8.4 lbs. It has Alnico 4 unpotted pickups- 50's wiring and oils in paper caps and a very nice top.
The Alnico 4 pickups have a really cool late 50's sound ,more lively than Alnico 2 and less ice picky than Alnico 5. The 50' wiring is a little different than the 60's wiring. When you back off the volume it just cleans up and does not get muddy or like with treble bleeds, shrill. I can dial in Dwayne Allman's sound to a - T or into the drive channels sound just like old Led Zepplin.
I love this guitar but it hasn't gotten much play, I use my Stratocaster most.
