1990 Gibson ES-347 in Sunburst with Gibson USA Case
Gibson built the ES-347 from 1978 into the early ’90s as a dressed-up, more versatile cousin of the ES-335. This 1990 example has all the upgrades that set it apart: an ebony fingerboard with block inlays, a bound headstock with a pearl inlay, gold hardware from the tuners to the TP-6 fine-tuner tailpiece, and a coil-tap switch that splits the humbuckers.
How It Sounds
With the humbuckers on full, it does the classic semi-hollow thing: warm, round cleans, thick blues tones and long sustain when you push it, with the center block keeping feedback in check. Flip the coil tap and it gets brighter and snappier, closer to single-coil territory. One guitar covers a lot of ground on a gig.
How It Plays
It weighs 9.48 lbs. The bound neck has block inlays you can find in low light, and the TP-6 tailpiece lets you fine-tune each string at the tailpiece without reaching for the headstock.
Condition
It presents very nicely for a 35-year-old guitar, with normal signs of age and play. The sunburst is deep and even, and the gold hardware still has its shine. Inside the f-hole is the Gibson USA oval label with the serial and the model, ES-347, written in by hand. The serial, 92000326, is also stamped on the back of the headstock and dates the guitar to 1990.
Case
It comes in a brown Gibson USA hardshell case with pink plush lining, along with the owner’s manual and paperwork.
