Yamaha PSS-480, with Editable 2-Operator FM Synth, PCM Drums & MIDI!

This is a vintage Yamaha with a surprisingly capable FM synth engine. The PSS-480 combines classic 2-operator FM synthesis, distinctive PCM drum voices, and MIDI In/Out in a portable keyboard with built-in speakers.

The synth section is so fun to use - you have 7 paramaters you can easily tweek, and there is a handy diagram to tell you what they do:

0 - Is the attack rate for operator 1

1 - Is the attack rate for operator 2

2 - Is the decay rate for operator 1

3 - Is the decay rate for operator 2

4 - Is the frequency for operator 1

5 - Is the frequency for operator 2

6 - Is feedback level

7 - Is mod level - how much does operator 2 modulate the signal of operator 1

8 - Is the total level

These are the basics of FM synth in an extremely user friendly format. Plus you can add overall effects like sustain (actually a decay trail after key release), vibrato, portamento, reverb and duet.

And, you can play the 7 drum sounds independently of the amazing accompaniment, a 'custom drummer' feature, and a killer array of accompaniment options.

The FM synth sounds are great for glassy bells, gritty basses, metallic textures, and wonderfully strange digital tones. The brass patches are killer sounding.

The drum voices have plenty of vintage character, and individual percussion sounds can be triggered over MIDI. Connect an external sequencer or DAW and use it as both an FM sound module and a compact drum machine.

It's a lo-fi 80's work station with 4 octaves. Fully functional, everything works, cosmetically great. Comes with power supply.
