Marantz PMD430 3-Head Portable Stereo Cassette Recorder w/ Box, Case, Manual & AC Adapter - Tested

Vintage Marantz PMD430 professional portable 3-head stereo cassette recorder, made in Japan, with original box, Marantz carrying case, owner's manual, AC power adapter, and documented Superscope factory service history.

This highly regarded professional portable cassette recorder features a three-head design, dual analog VU meters, Dolby B and dbx noise reduction, variable-speed control, and compatibility with normal, chrome, and metal cassette tapes.

A remarkable estate closet find accompanied by original Superscope factory service documentation dated October 2002. The paperwork documents substantial mechanical servicing, including replacement of the motor kit, pinch roller assembly, take-up clutch assembly, forward idler pulley, belt kit, and push switches. It provides documented historical evidence of factory service, although it does not guarantee the unit's present condition.

TESTING AND FUNCTIONALITY

The recorder has been personally tested and confirmed to power on using both battery power and the included AC adapter.

Cassette playback was tested using a prerecorded spoken-word cassette. The tape transport engaged and advanced smoothly during playback, and both analog VU meters responded rhythmically to the recorded material.

Audio playback was successfully confirmed through headphones. Recorded speech was audible through the headphone output.

Recording capability, recording quality, and all additional operating features have not been fully tested. Stereo channel separation and overall audio fidelity have not been independently verified.

The unit is accurately represented as tested for power and basic audio playback, not as comprehensively tested or recently refurbished.

CONDITION

Pre-owned vintage condition with cosmetic signs of age, previous use, and storage. The original cardboard box exhibits noticeable wear, staining, creasing, and tape residue. The owner's manual and service paperwork show age-related discoloration and handling wear.
