1962 Fender Tweed Champ — All Original w/ Germino Service — Very Good/Excellent Condition
This is a 1962 Fender Tweed Champ, purchased from Chicago Music Exchange and represented as all-original — a claim supported by the original transformers still in place. The tweed covering, speaker cloth, and chrome are all remarkably clean for a 60+ year old amp. Back panel is intact, with no cabinet dings, no tears in the cloth, and no cabinet repairs aside from the handle (noted below). There is one small cosmetic blemish, likely residue from old tape or a sticker that was removed at some point — clearly shown in photos. It’s loaded with period-correct vintage tubes, and runs completely clean — no hum, no buzz, no functional issues.
The amp is currently fitted with its original speaker, freshly reinstalled and sounding incredible. During my ownership, I swapped in a Jupiter-made “Fat Jimmy” 4-ohm 8” speaker to protect the original from wear while I played the amp regularly, then carefully reinstalled the original for sale. If you plan to play this amp often or at higher volumes, I’d recommend considering a similar replacement speaker to preserve the original long-term. Somee of my prferred speakers are a Jupiter, the Fat Jimmy and a Weber. The Weber sounds closest to the original speaker.

The amp was professionally serviced by Greg Germino of Germino Amplification, a widely respected name in vintage amp restoration. Greg replaced the caps and any other out-of-spec components, and carefully preserved the original paper cap sleeves, tastefully placed around the new caps for an authentic look. The amp sounds fantastic and looks the part.
Prior to this listing I had the amp checked out last week to make sure everything is running smoothly.

One side of the original handle broke near the metal clips about a year ago. It was professionally repaired with Barg’s glue and a discreetly placed fiberglass strip underneath for reinforcement. It looks good and functions fine, though I’ve avoided lifting the amp by the handle since, out of caution — I’d recommend the same for the next owner.
The amp will be well packed for transit.
