1966 Guild Starfire IV – Cherry Red – Vintage USA Semi-Hollowbody

A fantastic 1966 Guild Starfire IV in its beautiful Cherry Red finish. Built in Hoboken, New Jersey, this is a killer example of Guild’s classic double-cutaway semi-hollowbody design, featuring a pair of vintage Guild Anti-Hum humbuckers, the distinctive Guild harp tailpiece, and a gorgeous bound rosewood fingerboard.

These early Starfires have a sound and character all their own. The vintage Guild pickups are some of our personal favorites, delivering a wonderfully articulate, warm, and punchy tone with plenty of clarity and definition. This particular guitar sounds absolutely incredible and has all the character you would hope for from a well-played 1960s Guild.

Condition:

This guitar is in good vintage player-grade condition, showing plenty of honest wear from decades of use.

The Cherry Red finish has aged beautifully, with visible finish checking, scratches, nicks, dings, and areas of finish loss throughout the front, back, and sides. There is noticeable play wear around the pickups, body edges, and back of the guitar, along with typical aging and patina on the hardware.

The original pickguard is missing, and the small mounting holes remain visible.

The rosewood fingerboard looks fantastic, with beautiful grain and a great vintage feel. The guitar has clearly been played and enjoyed over the years, but it still has plenty of life left in it.

Most importantly, this is an absolutely killer-sounding instrument. The vintage Guild pickups have a distinctive voice that sets these guitars apart from more conventional semi-hollowbody designs.

This is not a pristine collector’s piece, nor are we presenting it as one. It’s an honest, well-loved 1966 Guild Starfire IV with fantastic vintage character, beautiful aesthetics, and an incredible sound.

Includes a non-original gig bag.
