At our Springfield MO location. Serial # 4497 16. 1949 or 1950 model. Well used, but plays and sounds great. I do not know of any modifications done to this guitar in its 80 year history. Knobs were likely replaced. Quite possibly could've had a refret some years back. Please see all pictures. Sold as is. Come with a Guardian hardshell case.

A 1949 Gibson ES-150 is a vintage, full-hollowbody electric archtop guitar manufactured in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Gibson used these internal ink-stamped numbers to organize production batches:

  • 4497 (The Batch/Order Number): This 4-digit code represents the specific production run.
  • 16 (The Rank Number): This indicates that your exact instrument was the 16th guitar built within that specific batch.

A FON in the 4000s range places the guitar's assembly firmly in the late 1949 to early 1950 window. While the ES-150 model layout remained virtually identical from late 1947 through the early 1950s, Gibson’s postwar shipping logs show that batch numbers in the high 4000s were completed and shipped during this 1949–1950 timeframe. It was incredibly common for guitars built during this era to be sold or labeled under slightly different years by dealers, but the ink stamp on the raw wood is the true story of its birth.
