This listing is for a Tama 14x6.5” Starclassic Walnut/Birch Snare Drum with Cedar Outer Ply that’s in excellent condition and only missing its Starclassic badge. Bottom hoop with snare guard is a replacement.

The drum plays beautifully and has absolutely no issues concerning its sound and performance.

The TAMA Starclassic walnut/birch snare drum is a premium snare that produces a wide range of crisp, articulate sounds. Constructed with an innovative blend of walnut, birch and cedar tonewoods, this 14x6.5" snare drum provides a versatile and nuanced voice for any style of music.

Walnut Shell Offers Warmth and Depth

At the core of this snare is a walnut shell that produces a warm, rich tone with pronounced depth and body. Walnut is a dense, hardwood that helps this drum achieve a wide tuning range and resonant quality. The walnut shell provides an ideal foundation for the birch and cedar plies that shape this drum's complex voice.

Thin Birch Plies Add Cut and Clarity

Birch is known for its focused, articulate sound, and the thin birch plies in this snare help deliver precise articulation and cut. The birch plies tighten the overall tone and reduce excessive overtones for a controlled, defined sound with ample sensitivity and response. The birch provides clarity and focus, balancing the warmth of the walnut shell.

Cedar Outer Ply Produces Vintage Tone

A single outer ply of cedar gives this snare a touch of vintage flavor. Cedar is a lightweight, resonant tonewood that helps produce a mellow, rounded tone often associated with classic snares of the 1950s and '60s. The cedar outer ply warms the birch plies and walnut shell for a full, balanced sound with vintage character. This fusion of tonewoods results in a highly versatile snare that can achieve a wide range of sounds from crisp and articulate to warm and resonant.

Die-Cast Hoops and Sensitive Snare Wires

This premium snare is equipped with 2.3 mm triple-flange die-cast hoops and sensitive snare wires that maximize resonance and response. The die-cast hoops provide stability for precise tuning while enhancing sustain and projection. The sensitive snare wires pick up the subtlest strokes and ghost notes for superior dynamic range and control.
