This amp is a rebuild of a 1955 Fender Tweed Super amplifier. Original cabinet, with replacement tweed fabric by Vintage Amp Restorations of St. Louis, with light “aging”. The chassis is a Marsh 5F4 Super replacement, with a replacement Marsh component board. Original 1955 speakers, reconed, with the original grill cloth.  Mercury Magnetics power transformer, Allen Amps output transformer, and HV choke from a 1977 Fender Twin. Sounds awesome! (especially with some delay or Reverb).

The story on this amp: I purchased it locally several years ago on Craig’s List from a guy who got it from his uncle, a self-proclaimed “electronics whiz”. Unfortunately, this uncle at some point in the 1970’s decided that tube amps were no longer cool, so he cut and gutted the original chassis and installed a solid-state amp circuit board (cringe). A photo of this original chassis is shown and is included. A new Marsh chassis was purchased and assembled with all new components as shown. The Marsh chassis is a 5F4, which has a more expanded control layout than the original 5D4 configuration, but 5D4 chassis are not available (that I could find). As such, the circuit is mostly 5F4, although it is wired as a Cathode Bias output circuit, as the 5D4 would have been. Vintage ceramic tube sockets were used in the chassis. The Ground switch has been wired to turn the Negative Feedback circuit on and off.

When purchased the original tweed had been painted black (ugh) so it was replaced as noted. The grill had some odd fabric on it, but when removed discovered what I believe to be the original cloth underneath. It’s a great sounding amplifier. Older NOS RCA 6L6GC output tubes are included.
