Finished this one yesterday October 30th, 2026. The neck is maple and body is stained cedar. I really like this look and wanted something different. It measures 37 1/2” overall, 11” wide, 2 3/8” side height and I got the bridge 25 3/4” from the nut on this one. This has the V neck profile which is a very old style but very comfortable. The Aquila 1b super nylgut strings give this a great sound that is enchantingly beautiful and will take you back to a much more simple time & make you feel like you are sitting on the front porch of a cabin in the hills. The solid ebony violin peg tuners are set into holes reamed with two violin peg reamers that cut a hole with the same angle and taper as the pegs so you get the best friction fit tension possible that increases the more you press in just like on a violin. I will include a set of guidelines that explain things better. The nylgut strings will take about two weeks to stretch to settle in and that is totally normal though I did bring them up to standard tuning 3 times before shipping which helps. I been making these for over 30 years now off an on but more so the last few years but I’m still in a very small cluttered shop and each banjo turns out differently though they start on the same basic pattern just things change by length and thickness and what my hand tools do along with my reading of the wood grain to get the best instrument that I can. I am not well known because I don’t have a factory with high production numbers I don’t have any employees unless you count my two cats but they either want to play, sleep or supervise haha but yeah I am a one man operation and I make them and list them here myself. I can’t tell you how disgusting I find the AI descriptions that they want to put in here so devoid of life or any colorful antidotes of expression and I wonder why they want to give us something that we don’t need instead of reducing fees. In any case, I think I covered everything I meant to on here do have a look at my other banjos and let me know if you have any questions and thanks for reading & look forward to doing business with you!
