Harmony Baritone Ukulele 50s/60s - with Case
Original friction tuners were replaced with new Gotoh gear tuners, a significant upgrade. These are the long-stem tuners as the head is very thick 1/2" wood. To install the Gotoh tuners, it required that the holes on the head be enlarged. So, the original friction tuners (which didn't keep the ukulele in tune for long) cannot be swapped back unless the holes are resized again. The bridge was reglued
No cracks or other repair work has been done on the ukulele.
The patent on the head label was given in 1957 by the US Patent Office. And the label design was replaced on later production runs around 1965. So the instrument was made between 1957 and 1965 and production of this version could possibly had ended earlier if you can find one with a newer (later issued) patent number on this same label design. Multiple patents were given as Harmony improved the sound quality and construction of the instrument. Unusual dedication to quality and craftmanship for such a relatively inexpensive, high production, instrument. Those days are gone for good!
Ukulele sounds great. Action is very playable as is but there is plenty of room at both the nut and saddle to lower the action if desired
