K. SUGITO STANDARD-1 Cello Bow, 4/4 - Japan

High quality progressing/intermediate cello bow by Sugito handcrafted in Japan, 4/4 size. Round stick, with a square hand-cut mortise. This model is retailed by Sugito in Japan for an equivalent to $440; however, for buyers in the United States, the effective price is substantially higher due to the high import tariff and international shipping.

• "If you are looking for something inexpensive, we recommend this bow. The bow greatly influences the tone of the cello... The stick is made from carefully selected Neo-Brazilian wood. It offers exceptional strength for this price range."

Sugito Bow Company is Japan's number one maker of bows for stringed instruments. Its bows are praised for their flawless craftsmanship, quality materials, and superb playing characteristics. While the company produces a wide range of bow grades -- from student to performing soloist -- even the entry level models are quite expensive, reflecting the Company's reputation and the popularity of its bows. 

This bow was made around 2007 but is in very good, gently used condition.

The bow has medium stiffness and good bounce. It is evenly balanced, with the balancing point of 6 1/2 inches from the frog, and is on the lighter side, 74 g, yielding comfortable, forgiving playability.
