For sale is a beautiful 2005 Gibson Flying V in classic Ebony finish, manufactured in the USA. This guitar belongs to the V-Factor era, when Gibson continued producing its iconic 1967-style Flying V under a different model designation.

Introduced in 1958, the Flying V was initially considered far ahead of its time. Its popularity grew significantly during the late 1960s and 1970s, eventually becoming one of the most recognizable electric guitar designs in history. The 1967 redesign introduced the larger pickguard, revised hardware configuration and overall appearance that would define the Flying V for decades to come.

This 2005 example captures that classic design with its solid mahogany body, set mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, cream pickguard and traditional three-knob control layout. The glossy Ebony finish contrasts beautifully with the aged cream-colored details and nickel/chrome hardware.

An interesting detail about this particular production period is the V-Factor designation. Gibson used the V-Factor and V-Factor X names during the 2000s, although these guitars retained the familiar 1967-style Flying V construction. This makes them an interesting chapter in the model's history, particularly for enthusiasts of Gibson's Nashville production from the 1990s and 2000s.

The model was factory-equipped with Gibson's powerful 496R and 500T ceramic humbuckers. The 496R neck pickup delivers a strong, articulate sound with plenty of clarity, while the high-output 500T bridge pickup is particularly well suited to hard rock, heavy metal and saturated lead tones. Together, they provide the aggressive character for which this generation of Flying V guitars is well known.

The traditional 24.75-inch scale, 22-fret fingerboard and set-neck construction make this a comfortable and resonant instrument, suitable for both rhythm and lead playing.

The guitar is in very good condition for its age, with normal signs of use and minor cosmetic wear visible in the photographs. The glossy black finish presents very nicely overall. The instrument retains its classic appearance and comes with a Gibson USA hardshell case with grey plush interior.

Also included is the original Gibson USA Pre-Pack Checklist, featuring the corresponding serial number. Having the original inspection paperwork together with the period Gibson case is a particularly nice addition to a guitar that is now over 20 years old.
