The Alesis 3630 is a dual-channel compressor/limiter with a gate, known for its versatility and popularity in both studio and live sound applications. It offers features like stereo link, peak/RMS detection, and sidechaining, making it a flexible tool for dynamic processing. While it's praised for its affordability and features, some users find its sound quality to be less desirable compared to higher-end compressors.

• Dual-Channel Operation:The 3630 features two independent channels, allowing for stereo or dual mono operation.
• Compression and Limiting:It provides both compression and limiting capabilities, with adjustable threshold, ratio, attack, and release controls.
• Noise Gating:The unit includes a noise gate with threshold and rate controls, allowing for reduction of unwanted background noise.
• Peak and RMS Detection:It offers both peak and RMS detection modes, providing flexibility in how the compressor reacts to signals.
• Hard and Soft Knee:Users can choose between hard and soft knee compression curves, affecting the aggressiveness of the limiting action.
• Sidechain Input:The 3630 includes a sidechain input for applications like ducking or keying, where an external signal can be used to trigger the compressor.
• Metering:It features input/output and gain reduction metering to visually monitor the processing.
