For sale is a beautiful Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue R9 in Cherry Burst, featuring a striking flame maple top and Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aging.
Mint condition and unplayed—just shipped to me. Includes the pictured brown hardshell case, Gibson Custom Certificate of Authenticity, factory checklist, hangtags, paperwork, and uninstalled pickguard.
The top on this particular guitar is a standout, with pronounced flame figuring across a warm golden center surrounded by rich cherry-red edges. The photos show the actual guitar offered.
Historic construction
Built around a two-piece figured maple top and solid mahogany body without weight relief, this R9 features a mahogany neck with a long-tenon joint and traditional hide-glue construction. Its rounded ’59-style Medium C neck, Indian rosewood fingerboard, and vintage-style appointments capture the character of the original 1959 Les Paul Standard.
Classic Custombucker electronics
Two Alnico III Custombucker humbuckers provide PAF-style character, paired with independent volume and tone controls, CTS 500K audio-taper potentiometers, and paper-in-oil capacitors. An ABR-1 bridge and lightweight aluminum stopbar complete the traditional hardware package.
Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aging
The factory-applied Murphy Lab treatment combines fine lacquer checking with subtly aged hardware for a vintage appearance. The intentional finish checking and aging are part of the guitar’s original Murphy Lab treatment, consistent with its mint, unplayed condition.
