Martin's renowned sopranos rank among the very best built during America's first ukulele craze - strum a few chords on this 1930s Style 0 and you'll immediately see why. Decades-old cuts of mahogany have opened up nicely into a remarkably big and loud tone with a bright, crystal-clear voice unlike anything you're liable to find on a new instrument. Cosmetic appointments on the Style 0 were fairly minimal, but the subtle beauty of this instrument and the natural allure of the tonewoods do all the talking where we're concerned. The Style 0 is commonly imitated by modern builders for good reason, and we love having an original out on the sales floor.

This instrument arrived in our store in very good condition relative to its age. Overall wear is very minimal for a ukulele approaching its centennial, although the finish on the neck and back appears to have been oversprayed at some indeterminate point in the past. Wear on the top is fairly light and not at all indicative of the uke's age. The only aftermarket alteration made was to replace the original rosewood friction tuners with modern geared tuners. The original tuners are not included with the instrument and have been unfortunately lost to time. Playability is excellent, with comfortable action, a straight neck, and no fret buzz. Included in the price is a non-original hard-shell case.
