DANELECTRO!!! YES!!!

They look great, sound awesome, play like crap!! And the quality control??? Non-existent.

BUT…not THIS one!

I am ”The Guitar Doctor of Virginia”, guitar tech extraordinaire!!! I’ve been a player for 60 years and have been working on guitars for almost as long.

There’s a special place in my heart for Danny’s. Those lipstick pups are freaking awesome.

I decided to make this one my bitch! When I got it, it flat out sucked ass like every other Dan-O. NOT ANYMORE! I gave it the full treatment to make it play better than any Dan-O out there. I straightened the neck, did a level/crown/polish on the frets (my fretwork is SPECTACULAR!). A level/crown/polish alone costs $275 at my shop. I shimmed the neck so the bridge was actually usable and did a full setup and cleaning on it.

NOW…it’s amazing!!! All the good of a Dan-O and none of the bad. I massaged the bad out of this bitch.

The Hodad is probably the most versatile Dan-O there is. Two lipstick humbuckers with coil tap and out of phase push-pull pots (the stickers are still on the pots-see pics). Add a Bigsby-style tremolo and you’ve got one serious surf monster.

PLUS, the frigging thing is PURPLE. Love me some purple guitar, yo!

The guitar is strung with 10’s because anything thinner is for pussies and the action is .040 at the 17th fret (How low can you go? THIS low). There is a tiny bit of relief in the neck on the bass side (like every other electric guitar-Duh!).

This Dan-O plays out great with no fret buzz and no dead notes.

You will NOT find another Dan-O that has had this level of pro work done to it because most techs won’t wast their time with them. They feel it’s BENEATH them to work on a POS Danny. BUT…I love them. There’s something about the cheesy goodness of a Dan-O. Is it cheesy? Yes! Is it purple? Yes! Does it sound great? Yes! Does it play like crap like all the other Dan-O’s? No F-ing way, brah!

There are a few blems from play wear pick rash on the top that could buff out if you reeeely need to and some wear on the pups from string vibration (see pics). Other than that? Nothing. No chips, dings or scratches. Just purple awesomeness!!!

This thing is the bomb. Very proud of how good it turned out.
