1984 Sequential Circuits DrumTraks Model 400 Vintage MIDI Drum Machine, Serial 3144, Tested and Working
Original 1984 Sequential Circuits DrumTraks (Model 400), serial number 3144, made in Japan. An early production unit of one of the first MIDI drum machines, used by Prince, Depeche Mode, and Tame Impala.
Tested: powers on, display lights up, and all 13 drum pads play. Tempo, cassette, and function buttons all respond.
- 13 sampled drum sounds: bass, snare, rim, 2 toms, crash, ride, closed and open hi-hat, claps, tambourine, cowbell, cabasa
- Per-instrument volume and tuning
- 6 individual channel outputs plus mix output
- MIDI In and Out, metronome output, cassette save/load
- 115V US power, attached power cord
Condition: very good for its age. Inside is clean, with the original labeled sound chips (see inside photos). Noted flaws: the cap on the "0" keypad button came off, but the button still works. There's a small chip and some wear on the back left bottom corner of the wood end panel (shown in the close-up photos). The wood panels also have light scuffs and a couple of small paint marks, and the top panel has minor wear from normal use. Original dealer sticker on the back.
Will be double-boxed with plenty of padding for shipping. Sold as shown.
