Lancaster Essix 15 2000's - Mahogany

This is a super cool hand-built tube head made by Lancaster Amplification in Peoria, Illinois, USA. The company was essentially master audio tech Dave Lancaster, who started building hand-wired amps in 1976.

The Essix 15 model is what I'd describe as a Fender Deluxe with a beast-mode option. With all controls at 12 o' clock, you get a classic Fender chimy, clean tone with long sustain. To my ear it's a blend of black panel and tweed amp goodness. If you dime everything and flip on the gain switch, start winding up your arm and unleash a massive AC/DC riff.

The tube lineup is a 5Y3 rectifier, two 6V6's and two 12AX7's – based on the Essix 15 name, I'm assuming 15 watts. Perfect for small to medium sized gigs, or bigger stages when mic'd up.

The cosmetics on this thing are gorgeous. The compact cabinet is made of what appears to be mahogany with inlayed stripes. Reminds me of the interior decking of a classic sail boat. It's got a few nicks from being gigged but overall the condition is good. Inside the chassis you'll see all high-quality components and an expert wiring job. The over-built nature of the amp translates to a hefty weight of 24 pounds. Not a toy. If this amp had a face plate that said Tone King, Carr, Morgan or Victoria on it, a seller would likely ask over $1,000 for it. The quality of this amp exceeds those brands, IMHO.

I've owned the amp for about ten years. Last year, I had a local tube amp repair tech check it out - it received a clean bill of health. I'm a fast and expert shipper so it will get to you with no drama.
