These used 1/2-inch tapes were recorded only once and then stored. They were not repeatedly erased and reused. These used tapes were recently heat treated and then erased. Manufacturing dates from 1987 through 1993. The metal reels and boxes shown in the photographs are included. Tapes are sold individually. 12 available.
Ampex 456 is professional analog recording tape that was widely used in recording studios, but this tape is now vintage media. Certain formulations of Ampex 456 are known to be susceptible to age-related sticky-shed syndrome. Because of the age of the media and the possibility that additional professional treatment may be required before use, these tapes are being sold as-is.
