Pearl Jupiter B4514 1976 - Chrome over brass

Up for sale is a beautiful, player-ready, and highly collector-grade 1976 Pearl Jupiter 14" x 5 1/2" Chrome-over-Brass (COB) snare drum. Made in Japan, this model (B4514) was Pearl's flagship snare in the mid-1970s and is famous for its incredible warmth, projection, and sensitive response. The exact model Stewart Copeland used on all those Police albums and tours. This drum is exceptionally clean and 100% functional, unless you find new old stock you won’t find a more perfect example.

• Shell: Heavy, vintage Chrome-over-Brass (COB) shell with the classic three-line rolled center beads.
• Strainer: Original Gladstone-style parallel dual-throw mechanism. It works perfectly, lowering the entire snare assembly straight down smoothly.
• Lugs: Original 10-lug configuration providing excellent tuning stability.
• Badge: Original black-and-gold "Pearl Japan" badge firmly attached.
• Muffler: Original internal tone control/muffler is intact and works smoothly.
• Heads & Wires: Freshly upgraded with an Aquarian coated batter head, Evans snare-side resonant head, and premium wide-strand snare wires. It sounds incredible and is ready to gig or record immediately.

Condition:
Cosmetic condition is excellent to near-mint for its age. The chrome finish is mirror-like with virtually no pitting or flaking. Hardware has been well-cared for, threads are smooth, and the parallel strainer rod operates exactly as it should. I boxed the original excellent condition factory reso head and snare wires/straps for safekeeping and they come with the drum. The only non-factory thing about it is the screws securing the adjustable butt plate as shown. One was missing so I bagged the other and replaced both with a modern equivalent, the bagged original comes with the drum. The factory grease is still on the well-lubed lugs. I cleaned the drum but have not removed any hardware, all those pristine washers and screws (with the exception of the butt-plate adjusters) are original and factory-tight.
