Silvertone Model 1484 Twin Twelve 60-Watt Guitar Head 1960s - Gray
This is a really nice example of a recently serviced 1960's Silvertone 1484 60 watt guitar head that's in very good cosmetic and excellent working condition. Amp was serviced about a year ago.
The cabinets are usually messed up on these because of their "paper" like construction. This one's in good shape as is the covering with minimal shrinkage and scuffing. Hardly any corrosion or pitting on the chassis and front panel.
Service performed at that time was :
Full electrolytic capacitor replacement using Nichicon and UCC caps. Old cap can was kept in for cosmetic purposes only and is completely electrically disconnected from the amp
Removed "death cap"
Repaired reverb tank, now working as it should (rare on these units - piezo transducers can be pretty fragile).
They've sure got a thing though.
1/2 power (triode/pentode based) switch added where ground switch was (NKK - high current) on front panel Modified ground scheme to significantly reduce hum
If you're looking for one to get, this is probably it. Really dug having it but I have a strict one in one out policy.
